You are doing more harm then good to your beloved dog by feeding him ppl food. He is not getting the proper nutrients that a dog needs to thrive and be healthy, what ever you are feeding him must be high in calories, plus he is eating more then the recommended amount a dog needs a day. A over weight dogs put strain on the heart and legs. Also it prohibits his exercise because he will tire easy from being over weight. No you are not being kind to your dog. You are helping to give him a shorter life span. A dog will not starve himself. Yes, they are picky eaters, but once a dog knows if he turns up his nose at what momma gives him he will play you until he gets that yummy ppl food. Yes it is a pain in the butt trying to find something he will like and eat, have you tried sprinkling a little Parmesan cheese on top of this food to entice him to eat, or a bit of cottage cheese on top of is food, or mix some wet food with his dry food or moisten his dry food. I would give him agood quality dry food, mixed with a little wet food, set it down, he he does not eat it in 20 minutes, pick it up, put in frig, wait 30 minutes set on floor again, keep this up until he eats. Yes, DO NOT GIVE IN TO HIM. It is very hard on us to do this, we think we are starving our babies a dog will eat, they will not starve them selves. If he does not eat for one day he will not die, but will be very hungry the next day, these yorkies are very smart, and very stubborn an great at getting their own way. Yes it can be costly trying to find something they like, for you, it will be twice as hard because he knows you will give in to him. If you love your baby, you have to be strong and firm and get him to eat a nourishing dog food, And DO NOT LOOK AT THOSE EYES when he stands looking at the frig, that is our down fall, the eyes.
