I have a few friends that have debilitating migraines, that grind their life to a halt, while they spend days in a dark room.

I rarely suffer from headaches, but the couple of times a year I do, they are intense! Two of my migrane friends swear by taking a couple of ibuprofen, and sitting with an ice pack on the back of your neck, and putting your feet in hot water, as hot as you can stand it. I feel rediculous doing it, but it really helps.

Another thing they say is to get your eyes checked, especially if you are a glasses/contact lense wearer already. Minor changes in seeing ability, and the resulting eye strain, can trigger migraines. My one co-worker swears that she can tell her her vision changes even slightly, as it sets her migraines off. Her insurance only pays for new glasses every other year, so the opposite year, she pays to get updated lenses put in her current frames.

I can't believe the dr is making you wait a month. That is rediculous!
