Isn't there anyone at all who can go to your house and give Thor an exercise break in the middle of the day? No local friends, neighbors, stay at home moms that might be able to give you a hand?
You might also get him an xpen so he has a little bit more room to run around in during the day. Give him a soft bed, some tough to bite toys (no choking bits), plenty of water, pee pads, and play some music or leave the TV on for him. He'll be OK, honey! There are loads of folks here who have to leave their pups home during the day. Besides, dogs can't tell time. 8 hours is like 10 minutes to them!
