Alright pain meds mask pain, so if he had a short term positive response that might just be due to the pain meds.
Lymes disease was it tested for?
I would give it at the most 5 days and then if you notice the limping go to the ortho surgeon.
I am not too impressed right now with what tests your vet did and any rule outs she did not do...
