How embarrassing, but I basically threatened him. I told him (words to this effect) that i know some people just think of them as just dogs, and one is as good as another, but that is not the case here, and that she means the world to me and I will not be ok with anything happening to her, and if at any point the surgery needs to stop for her welfare, it stops! He was so good about it. (Now I know it's because he's an absolutely wonderful vet). He explained his surgery protocol and assured me that he would do everything he was able to insure that ZoE came through the surgery successfully. And she did! In fact she was so well stitch up, that you can't even see a spay scar at all.
I hope Lily has an equally good spay experience. Have you bought a cone or onesies for after the surgery? I found onesies worked the best for us. I bought baby onesies, put them on backwards, and left the middle snap open for her tail to go through. I also used her stroller alot the first few days to keep her confined, yet close to me. I just wheeled her from room to room with me. |
I have used this vet for years so that's a relief. Don't know if I could be brave like you with a new vet. I'll threaten mine for sure! Lol.
I do have onesies and I have the soft cone. Purchased it from a YT member. For the life of me I can't remember who!
I also have a stroller. We will put it to good use. I am just ready to get it over with.
