thank you, she is actually a mix, they say with pom, she looks like a puffy fluffy yorkie with a long full tail. she has so many clothes with matching bows so I am hesitant, much to my husband's annoyance, to cut it off, now that I cut it much shorter she does not look as messy.
I have also been cutting the hair just above and in the center of the eye area. If you are not showing your dog you can go for sort of a modified cut so you don't have to suffer though that puppy stage. Some people also use little clip barette to keep the short hairs from hanging down and there is some sort of a styling gel that is OK for dogs, but I have never used it.
