My yorkie, Joey, is 5 1/2 months old. So far we have been potty training him on a potty pad. I would say he is about 80% trained when he pees but his poo'ing is another story. He likes to poo on our vents! It is becoming frustrating. He knows he is doing something wrong because I will notice his smug look and right away and I head to the different vents to find out which one he choose this time....
If I catch him, I say "no" sternly and put him on his pad. When he does go on his pad, I praise him like crazy and give him a treat. He's a smart boy, I can say "Joey let's go potty" and he gets up and goes to his pad even if he doesn't have to go he goes to it and looks up at me like, "I am on my potty pad Mom but I don't have to go..."
I even bought a natural version of apple bitter spray and tried to spray the vents....I could try this again too perhaps and spray them daily...
Would love some other suggestions.
Thanks.
