I hear you. But at least with this one (which is not a rescue), you can cover the dog while they are very young.
I always now recommend (along with buying from a good breeder who health tests), pet insurance. I self insured for many years, and know first hand the costs of multiple health issues. At least with pet insurance you have some flexibility on the financial end of things.
I also think that folks should know of the health issue(s) with any particular breed or in this case the mix of two purebreds . Planning on the financial front is as responsible as planning for toys n beds n food and training.
