Thanks for letting me know this, it is very helpful. I am very torn on what to do because Teddy is only 1 oz over 4lbs and the vet said that, although these dogs are neutered/spayed everyday (most without issues), his size does put him at more risk. So, I dunno...

Well - Misty is there any overt medical reason for neutering - like an undescended testicle? History of cancer in his lines? How has his blood work been? History of hypothyroidism, diabetes, or liver disease? That would be some of the things I would find out from his breeder.
