This is surreal. First there were 6 puppies and then there were one? How did the first vet come to the conclusion before whelping that there were six puppies? Ultrasound? X-ray? Palpation? Considering the story as a whole, I would be worried that there were other pups that you didn't get back after the c-section. And no records? If your suspicions are true, this can't be isolated, and there are bound to be others with complaints as well.
Question to breeders: I have read here that singletons can be larger than normal at birth. Is this always the case, because this one doesn't seem to be.
