We were raised shooting and my father drove home every point you just made. I have five young children and honestly have a lot of hesitation with toy guns even because those basic precautions are driving so strongly in my mind. I work in livestock an see dumb young men pointing pellet guns in the most stupid, thoughtless directions you could imagine (I'm right here!) somebody never taught them, thank you for your good sense precautionary statements. Had a friend die of accidental discharge during cleaning last year- sad stories. Competent training creates fire arm safety, your advocacy for appropriate managment and safety training is appreciated.
