I had a Shih Tzu and Japanese Spitz before and while I do protect all of them to some degree, I think I protect Pao, my current Yorkie the most just because he 'thinks' he is a big dog and will try to start a fight with bigger dogs. While he is a good 10 lbs, we had a hawk that swooped really low while we were on a walk a couple months ago and he does have Grade 2 luxating patella so I have to be careful with him to not let him jump down the couch too much so yes, I do protect my Yorkie a lot more than my other dogs. My Shih Tzu was very mellow and lazy and won't do much so the chances of him hurting himself is a lot less than my Yorkie! And I never leave him in the backyard by himself ever...even when he was with me, he managed to go harass a skunk and got himself in trouble! |
