Lost one small dog to a Coyote and one Yorkie from Genetic defect or injury they weren't sure. What are to good insurance co ? LP is thought to be genetic although I believe injury can cause it but most of them are born with it. LP can cause ACL tears but so can other activities. There are super fit dogs that still have LP and still get ACL tears.
