What additives are you referring to? If it's probiotics, digestive enzymes, vitamins, etc. one should look for something like this: [F by NSF International and in full compliance with GMP Requirements for Dietary Supplements. We also have a third party testing lab test for impurities. Made in USA facility.
Mycotoxins primarily comes from mold due to contaminated grains used in pet food. Mycotoxins in Dog Food |
Whatever is in the OTC products many of us give our dogs, from mold spores, bacteria, viruses, toxins, carcinogens, preservatives, additives - wondering if anyone ever tests that huge range of products to help ensure our our dogs' safety alongside the dog food. These products' ingredients are shipped to the manufacturer in possibly dank holds of boats, open or filthy boxcars, rusty truck beds/trailers,that might have just held anything from manure/urine to petroleum, in possibly less than sterile, fully closed containers, stored in vats, mixed in large containers at the manufacturers, stored in warehouses, and shipped out, etc. - they can potentially be exposed to water, dampness, extremes of cold/heat, rodents, bugs, pesticides used in and around the facility, grow mold, harbor bacteria, toxins, viruses, etc.
Labels may say they are in compliance with various requirements and have third party testing but I wonder who does actually test the products and how often to be sure they are safe when they go into my sweet Tibbe.
