Hi Bekky oh poor boy. I would definitely consult with a Vet. Purple sounds like bruising, or there could be broken blood vessels underneath. Dogs will mask their pain so if he is yelping it really hurts. I hope it is nothing serious but I have found with Buster and myself the longer I wait to deal with an issue the bigger it can become. Even in your title you are aware it could be serious so rather than worrying about it just have your boy checked out. Best wishes with the Vet check and let us know how things turn out. We really do care about the yorkies we get to know on YT. Once you love a Yorkie you have a soft spot for all Yorkies.
