All puppies are cute but I think you know that purebred dogs are a genetic creation that came about by very selective breeding. Only continued selective breeding will keep the purebred looking and acting like the breed was intended to look and act.

When people like this woman get their hands on the species that is when big problems occur. She knows little about their pedigrees or about the line breeding that needs to be selectively done in order to avoid genetic deficiencies or defects.

You might want to advise your friend to contact a local AKC sanctioned dog club to get advice about reputable breeders in your state or a near by state.

She can search for a conformation club or hopefully there may be a breed specialty club available to give guidance.

There is so much that goes into producing good quality purebred pups that it is just not advisable to buy from "hobby" breeders trying to make some extra income on the backs of these poor animals. Most show/breeders have pet pups available and reasonably priced. If she has to get on a waiting list it will be well worth her while to do a little waiting and get a pup that actually looks and acts as a Yorkie should with an honest health guarantee.
