Sounds like a strictly second-rate vet clinic with lack of proper equipment or veterinary protocols. I would grab my dog and run from that place, never to return. What the heck did they reschedule her for the very next day until they had her further checked for what could have caused her breathing problems and that anesthesia machine inspected and repaired/re-certified or totally replaced? I cannot believe that they used it on other surgeries that day after having problems with your dog, seemingly to further check it out! One would expect a professional veterinarian to immediately stop all that day's surgical procedures, call in the repair technician for on-the-spot repairs or replacing it with a loaner machine.
What a close call. Thank goodness you are moving on from that clinic.
