Default Marking!!!! Please help!!!

Hi everyone . I have a yorkie named Teddy he just turned 1 last week and recently he's been lifting his leg out of nowhere and pees almost squirts on the post of my bed or wherever he wants and runs off. He knows not to pee inside the house he's always been good on the wee wee pad and going outside but out of nowhere he's started doing this. I spoke to the Vet about this and she mentioned getting him neutered but she said it won't guarantee that he will stop. She even mentioned her own dog that she adopted at the age of 2 and he still marks and he's neutuered. I've contemplated this decision over and over. I'm not trying to offend anyone and I respect everyone's opinions but I just can't see myself putting Teddy through that. Am I being selfish? I just love Teddy so much taking him to the groomer is bad enough because I worry if they're treating him good or if they're hurting him. I know I know I'm awful but he's my baby. I really don't want to neutuer him. Has anyone not had there dog neutuered? Any suggestions on any cleaning items I can get at Petco especially for wood? I tell him no show him what he did wrong and ignore him for awhile afterwards. He stops then a few days later starts up again. Anyway I've rambled enough sorry guys I just don't know what to do. Any positive feedback would be awesome thanks.
