We use the small cloth scrunchies - they are easier on the hair. Cali is 6 years old, has a long top knot, and no breakage. At night I loosen it significantly, then put new one on in the morning. I get them in the children's department at places like target or Walmart or often at dollar tree type places. There are also some folks here on YT who sell the small scrunchies.
