Depending on her size 1/2 a cup seems like plenty. Weenie eats all she wants when I feed her. I measure all here food so I know how much she eats. So knows when its meal time and eats it all. Never misses. I can't free feed either. My other dog will eat 10lbs of food if i let him. He only eats ~1/2c a day. He's a solid 6#12oz. Also Weenie will get a snack every hour or so during training. So no any puppies I've ever had would get hypoglycemia. Easier to train IME. Never had a potty problem this way. I free feed before. For me it always made them finicky eaters.
