He may be just going through an independent streak or hasn't established a full bond with you yet. Give him time and build his trust and he'll probably begin to seek you out. Cover yourself in his treats while down on the floor on his level if you want him to want to learn to approach and crawl on you, stay pretty quiet at first while he does this, as he learns he can trust being on and near you - and besides, you come with good things he likes - so he'll begin to associate being on/near you with pleasant things & good times.
