All you can do is prepare for the worst and pray for the best. You can't change it so don't waste time worrying about what you can't change. I think the insurance is a good idea. Before I knew better when I got my puppy it turned out that she came from a puppy mill. She has had to have knee surgery on both back legs, has food allergies, has environmental allergy's, collapsing trachea, hypothyroidism and the list goes on. I just enjoy the time I have with her and take as best care of her as I possibly can. This is why I am such an advocate of stopping bad breeders and puppy mills because a lot of people don't research before getting a puppy and end up getting on from a bad breeder or puppy mill and end up with a pup that ends up having genetic issues and such. Sometimes these pups just get thrown away when issues pop up, some get there issues ignored and so on but we must always remember it's the humans fault not the pups.
