Consistant, persistant, perserverance, and patience......these are the required attributes anyone that is owned by a Yorkie MUST have! She sounds like she has run of your home? She must be confined to one room, where you are present, at all times. When you are not home, she must be either crated or confined to a small area, like a laundry room or a playpen/exercise pen. She needs to walked with a halter, not a collar....with her pulling and struggling at the end of the lead, with a collar on, she could very easily do damage to her trachea. You have tyo start all over with her "training", as she has actually not been trained at all....she is totally running the show, "telling" YOU how things are going to be conducted!
House training....you are going to have to tether her to you when you are home with her....you MUST have your eyes on her constantly, so when you see her about to pee/poop, you IMMEDIATELY address the issue! This can not be done once or twice and then let her revert to her current ways....you must make her realize it is going to be done YOUR way from now on, with NO reprieve! You are allowing her to raise herself, train herself, and she is incapable of doing that. YOU must take control of the situation, and change the entire set up as it is now. At her age, feed her once or twice a day, set meal times. Watch her closely after she eats, THAT is when she poops/pees. If you notice her doing this within 15 minutes, you must put her halter on and get her outside so she can do her bathroom behavior. Follow that behavior with profuse praise! If you see you can not for whatever reason, make the time to get her outside to potty, provide her with pee pads so she can use them indoors....she will be tethered to you for many months, after she eats/drinks, take her over to her pee pads in that time frame you have realized followes her eating....give her the command to poo or pee. This is repetitive, consistant, persistant, and you must be diligent, or she will continue to do as she pleases. There are people on here that are excellent trainers, they know books and methods I am not familiar with....you most certainly will get advice ...what has worked for me may not be YOUR answer, but right now, you dog is running the household! You can NOT allow that to continue or you will never see improvement. |
