I have spent the past 3 days reading posts to page 50, it seems there are so many illness' and operations for different things. Spicey was a gift to me and I had no idea (and I dont believe my sons did) how they have so many medical issues. I am so afraid Spicey will have something go wrong and I cant afford the vet. I am on SS and cant even afford to buy my baby the clothes she needs. She was 6 mo yesterday and I have had her a month and am totally in love with her. Such a sweet and smart baby. She was 2.5 when I got her and she is 2.7 in a month. I am very seriously thinking of the pet insurance mentioned so much! I mean 50 a month would sure beat a 500 bill or more at one time. I have it narrowed down to 2.
I so wish my sons had of been more knowledgeable before getting her. Or had let me know so I could have read up on yorkies. I have an 8 yr old terrier/chi mix that I rescued with diabetes . I love her like one of my children. I feel she has been put aside by me this past month ,even tho I make it a point to have mommy Sugar time. I still have to keep her in my bedroom with a gate in the doorway when Spice is out and about, playing , learning and me training her. They will play maybe 5 min and Spice starts the little nipping at the legs and jumping on Sugar. Sugar has also became blind by the diabetes and I think Spice scares her more than anything. I almost stand over them when they are playing as I would just die if Sugar would accidently hurt little Spice. Sugar is 13 lbs and Spice 2.7 !!
I guess I just needed to put my fears in writing and read it and maybe I will get my own answer what to do.
Are there ever any Yorkies that dont have the medical problems?? So far my vet has said she is in great condition and has very good little muscles for one so small. Spice will be laser spayed March 3 and will have her pre-op blood work prior so maybe I will know a little more then.
