It's great to see so many dog lovers in one place and there are many wonderful postings on here that I have enjoyed reading but I have to say that I am really appalled and a little angry at the postings that I have read on here regarding Lee and Judy Trayler's Yorkies Playhouse. I have personally been to Yorkies Playhouse on many occasions and it is simply amazing!! The pictures on the website do NOT do it justice!! Those visits were made unannounced because I wanted to see how well the facility was kept before I chose to buy from them. Myself as well as several of my friends have purchased 11 Yorkies from Judy and Lee over the last 10 years and they are absolutely the most beautiful dogs. They are all VERY well socialized and VERY healthy. All of their puppies are vet checked before they are sold and they all come with a health guarantee. They only sell to private buyers, never to pet stores and never to brokers or breeders. Anyone who states that this lovely retired couple are guilty of running a puppy mill are sadly mistaken. Shame on you! Puppy mills are filthy, torturous places and unfortunately there are many of them across the country. I have seen some of the most atrocious puppy mills you can imagine. This is not one of them!!! I made a surprise visit to Yorkies Playhouse several months ago and while I was there the USDA inspector arrived to do a surprise inspection. She had nothing but the highest praise for them.
I would like to address some of the ignorant remarks made in some of the posts I've read. One commented on the small size of the cages that were seen in the pictures on the website. Those small cages are where the Yorkie puppies are delivered. They are quiet and warm (featuring warming pads) where the mother and puppies have time to bond and nurse. As soon as the puppies open their eyes at 15 days old they are moved into a large playpen which is about 8 ft x 24 ft so that when they start to toddle they are able to leave the nesting box and can explore their world. To the person who was horrified that they were born in a cage, where do you think puppies are born? On a cold floor or outside?? All of Judy's puppies are hand delivered by her and she watches the pregnant mothers 24 hours a day until they go into labor. The rest of the time the adult Yorkies roam free throughout the house and have constant access to a huge play yard outside with slides, and a tiny swimming pool (in the summer) to walk around in with lots of toys. The puppies have lots of little chew toys and balls to play with which Judy sanitizes twice a day. She spends at minimum 10 hours a day working with their Yorkies and they are all very well loved and socialized. Not many people spend 10 hours a day with their dogs. In regards to the post which said that it was wrong to wean the puppies at 8 weeks clearly has no experience with raising Yorkies. I don't care what the AKC website says, the mother is more than ready to wean them off and will try to get away from the puppies because she becomes very sore from those little teeth chewing on her sore nipples. The puppies are also very capable of eating food at 8 weeks and are ready to go to their new home with the exception of the few puppies that might be a little small for their age. Judy will hold them til they are big enough to go.
This place is like a Doggie Palace!! It has central heat and air, designer wall paper, soft music playing at all times, TV, washer and dryer and a dishwasher. Everything is disinfected twice per day and the dog blankets are changed everyday. Do any of you who call this a puppy mill keep your houses this clean?? I seriously doubt it. The dogs are groomed daily and bathed weekly. They have Dr. Joe Burden and Dr. Joef Green in West Plains, MO who are on call for them 24/7 and they consider Yorkies Playhouse to be a first class operation. Additionally, Yorkies Playhouse is licensed through the state of Missouri as well as through USDA which is required by law in Missouri. Being licensed is not a "Red Flag" as one post mentioned. For those who have made the ridiculous statement that nobody should ever buy a Yorkie that is not from a Champion mother, please keep in mind that those show dogs are line bred which is inbreeding. Lee and Judy do not claim to sell show quality dogs. They are just working hard to take excellent care of their Yorkies, improve the breed and provide good people with a wonderful pet quality Yorkie. If somebody requires a 'perfect' show quality dog then get one from somebody who shows their dogs. If you are looking for a top quality, healthy Yorkie baby from a genuinely nice couple then look no further than Lee and Judy Trayler at Yorkies Playhouse.
Lee and Judy absolutely adore their Yorkies and they are extremely particular about who they sell to. They go through an extensive screening process before they agree to sell to anyone. I would suggest that those on this blog who want to bash bad breeders then why don't you go to Missouri's Dirty Dozen list which can be be found at humanesociety.org.

How do you know that was really an actual USDA inspector who just happened to arrive while you were there? I've been to the homes of so many reputable, highly respected Yorkshire Terrier breeders over the years and not once has a USDA inspector ever just showed up. And who cares about stuffed toys lining shelves and baby-looking nurseries - silly stuff for eye appeal.

What proper health certificates on the breeding pairs and their parents, grandparents, stating they are all are free of genetic diseases, do each litter's studs, dams have? Do they breed undersized dogs? Do they understand genetics and pick the breeding pair for one reason - only to improve the breed and no other reason? Do they keep the pups to age 12 - 16 weeks? Do prospective buyers answer a questionnaire, pass inspection, get checked out thoroughly B4 they agree to sell to anyone? Where are the dogs all quartered - spend their days and nights - in a kennel, "special shed" or in the home, like real family pets, living as part of the family with car trips, beds of their own, birthday presents and walks, life enrichment activities, lots of individual play, training and laptime?

And that's just a few of the really important things to consider. But if they are not doing at least all of those things, they are in it for another reason than giving their breeding dogs their best life while breeding to improve the breed and their puppies a real future with people they have checked out and have a reasonable expectation will give that puppy a loving, responsible, forever home.
