BIG dogs and little tiny puppies....not a good mix. Fortunately, your baby even survived this attack. For the future, try to always think of your puppy as a HUMAN baby or toddler....would you put your infant child outside unattended? Would you let your enfant baby play with two Rotties? Would you let a stranger in a store or shopping mall, hold or watch your enfant child? Would you leave your enfant child in your car, unattended? If you try to think of that puppy along those lines, it helps you make decisions about just how much freedom or unsupervised attention you allow for your puppy. I personally would never allow any of my Yorkies, most especially a 12 week old puppy, around a large dog of ANY kind, let alone TWO adult Rotties. Even if they had just put a foot on that baby's back, playing, they could have easily broken his back. If they had been rough housing over possession of a toy, they could have easily broken his neck as they jerked him around trying to get the toy from him.

As a breeder, this absolutely breaks my heart.....I would be inconsolable if this was one of my puppies. Sometimes I question the measures and the steps I take when interviewing and approving my buyers, recommending specific books to be read before the puppy is picked up....questioning and suggesting and discussing and reviewing.....alot of people dont like that much "intrusion" or "guidance" with how and what they do with that new puppy, but I would clearly be blaming myself for this unfortunate event...what did I miss that I could have helped you with? What did I miss that could have given you guidance with this poor baby, in your decision making, so that this would have never happened.

When you get your baby home, take it slow and easy....you are going to have to be very patient with him....he may not ever get over this encounter with large dogs or another dog, at all. Not his fault.....he essentially may suffer from PTSD from this. It really is not all that big of a deal to allow your baby to play with strange dogs....all that group play is not a necessary part of the emotional development of your Yorkie...if you want that type of interaction with neighborhood dogs, get a DOG....something that has a fighting chance in defending itself! Yorkies are scrappers and will play or take on any dog, regardless of the other dogs size....and that is the number two cause of death for Yorkies (used to be, havent checked the stats lately). I know there are lots of members who will vehemently disagree with this thought process of mine...but it only takes once for my fears to come to pass....and you are living that right now. Rather safe than sorry, I believe.

Praying for your precious little baby....
