Stool with lots of GEL...Need help Hi, I am so tired. My Angel had diarrhea and vomiting. I took her to the vet and got medication [flagyl] and peptic pills. Gave the meds for 7 days and the pills for 5 days. The vomiting stopped but the diarrhea persisted. I was feeding her as the vet recommended : Chicken with rice. I then started giving her sweet potato chicken & rice and the diarrhea started to resolve. I got a few weeks of excellent stools. She was tested for parasites and the test showed she had no parasites. The vet said there was no obstruction. I kept her on the chick, sweet pot, rice diet as per my vet and it did work until yesterday. Yesterday I had to go to the hospital. My dad was in the hospital again and she overheard me arguing with someone on the phone regarding my dad's care. I was gone for 11 hours because my dad was in a hospital an hour from my home and he did not want me to leave him. He is very sick. Her stool in the morning was great! But after I fed her I saw her run to the wee pad and she defecated more then one stool and one was with so much mucus/slime. The slime was clear and yellow and looked like gobs of mucus. I was horrified. I fed her the same thing. My dad is on contact precautions at the hospital and I am careful to glove up and gown up when there. I do not know if the stress affected her or if I brought something home to her. I am exhausted. Her bought of diarrhea was so hard to get rid of and I had to cut down the hours I spent with my father to stay with her. {I was spending long hours away from her to be with my sick dad and I live alone, so my Angel was alone a lot}. Also I am under so much stress and I wonder if she is picking up on it. Can someone advise? I was going to start Angel on heartworm meds. but now I have to call the vet sometime today to let her know what is going on. Again, she tested negative for parasites so I am dumbfounded at this point and am concerned the stress may be causing a condition in my Angel. I just don't know what to do. I have a brother who will absolutely not work with me to divide our time with dad. He always has something to do. It has been tough and has been going on now for over 7 months. Please advise. Any of your thoughts would be very much appreciated. My Angel is the sweetest dog in the world. Thank you. |
