My alarm system works great with my dog and cat too. You can turn off the motion sensor (If you are worried about the animals tripping it off) and just leave on the alarm in case someone breaks in. I also have cameras so mine is working out great for us. I can watch from my cell phone if I am running errands or out of the house for a long time. I have ADT.
