I think a lot has to do with genetics. My last yorkie had a very fast growing coat, and could go from a puppy cut to a floor length coat in a year. zoE has a very slow growing coat that seems more prone to breakage. At three years old, her hair was about teo inches off the ground, but never got to floor length, so I finally cut it off. Now I keep her body buzzed, and hair two inches long on her legs, face and tail.
I absolutely love a yorkie in full coat, but came to the realization that it just wasnt meant to be with Zo.
