Unfortuntely, when you breed mixes, you get more mixes. LOL. It has nothing to do with looks, per se, but a lot to do with developing a DNA set so that it becomes possible to reliably and consistently breed dogs from that set that are identifiably of the same looks, personality type, etc., which is why there is a 'standard' established for all breeds...or at least, that is my understanding. An all black Yorkshire Terrier would not 'be' a "Yorkshire Terrier" but would be doggone cute, as would any dog in any other color but blue and tan/gold with a cute face and an adorable and commanding personality.
