My male is not neutered and only marks outside. He attempted to mark a couch once when he was around 20 months, but a quick and loud "No!" and clap had him running to his crate

may help but it's not a guarantee. The only thing I can advise is to watch him like a hawk and if you can't, crate him or put him in an xpen.
