Not sure if someone mentioned this but the reason that puppies eat their poop as well as others is because thats what mom teaches them while she is taking care of her puppies. The momma dog eats all the poop to get nutrients for her nursing, as well as keeping the area clean for her pups! Amazing what a little motherly love does to you.
But it is mainly just a phase most dogs go through.
