I think your vet's comment is worthy of a thread all in it's own. My opinion is not as knowledgeable as others on here pertaining to vets, but, in my opinion is if your vet doesn't know even basic info about the yorkie breed, he shouldn't be your yorkie's primary care provider. You should seek others' advice. I think it is very important to have a vet knowledgeable in health issues that a yorkie is prone to prior to a problem with your pup actually popping up. Driving 50 miles or more is worth getting a knowledgeable vet when/if an emergency arises.
