I adopted a 2 year old male yorkie recently that was not neutered. He marked like a water faucet! We put him in a belly band and immediately made arrangements to have him neutered. Afterwards, we did use the belly band as a training tool. He couldn't wear it right after the surgery so I kept him crated or tethered to me. Once his surgery healed, we kept him in the belly band and also kept all eyes on him every minute he wasn't in the crate. At first he would mark/pee right through the band but gradually we noticed the band stayed drier longer and longer. Its been 6-7 weeks now and we are all but done with the band. I still don't trust him when I have to leave him alone for a bit, but generally the band is still dry when I come back. I absolutely DO NOT trust him when I take him anywhere else, as he will still try to mark. I don't know that will ever change.
