She had 5 babies, ranging in weight from 2.2 oz to 3.8 oz. I dont monitor mommas weight gain.....I follow the puppies very closely with an ultrasound at 4 weeks to determine viable babies, then xray at day 58....I watch to make sure momma is filling out "appropriately" for the size of the litter/size of babies, but I dont monitor it closely.
If you have a singleton, it could be one very large baby, which could indeed be an issue requiring a c-section. Be certain you get that vet to actually measure head/pelvic ring ratio, unless it is easy to see there is a lot of room for baby to pass. |
