He decided to Xray her stomach to see if there was any blockage, but her tummy is fine. He said there was no excess gas or an abnormal amount of feces in her gut. He checked her joints for any sign of pain, as well. She is still eating well. He is doing a blood test to see if she has a hormone problem, which causes a swollen tummy. He decided to give her an intra muscular injection for pain and told us to watch and see if she is much happier with pain relief. Well, by the time she got home she was feeling sleepy. She ate her food and then looked very miserable, so I picked her up and she felt floppy. I put her into her bed and she went straight to sleep and has been asleep for 2 hours now. I am just concerned that she has had too big a dose of painkiller? Perhaps I am just being a neurotic mommy?! I am constantly checking her breathing! If she sleeps like this I won't be able to tell if the injection helped her problem.

What do you think - should I phone the after hours number at the vet and tell them she is so sleepy?
Yes, I would call the after hours number, just to be sure everything is as it should be.
