Check out Purina One Smartblends Puppy Food...it meets the evidenced based, scientifically proven requirements for daily nutritional needs for puppies. And guess what!!! Number one listed ingredient is REAL CHICKEN!!!!! I dont feed Purina, because I feed RC for 35+ years...
but from the Purina Smart Blends site, I see:
"Real chicken as the first ingredient blended with other high-quality protein sources helps build strong muscles and a healthy heart
Omega-6 helps give your puppy a radiant coat and healthy skin
Calcium and phosphorus help keep bones and joints growing strong
Easily digestible nutrition with rice and oat meal for your puppy’s delicate stomach"

I did go to that dentist's site to try to find out how he evaluates a dog food, other than his own personal preference about grains and plant sources for nutrition, and he says, under the FAQ tab:

Do you test the dog foods you review?

"As a small, independent website, The Dog Food Advisor does not have the resources needed to test the thousands of dog food recipes reviewed on our site."

So, we must rely almost entirely on the integrity of the information posted by each company on its website.

As such, the accuracy of every review is directly dependent upon the test results from whatever specific batch of food a company chooses to publish.

So I do not understand why he would rate Purina One Smart Blends Puppy Food as a 1 Star, because based on his own stated rating criteria, he uses "the integrity of the information posted by each company on their website".....
I guess I am still at a loss as to why he does not rate this Blend higher....I know he has an aversion to corn and meal and by products and plant based sources of protein, because he said so.....which could be an issue for vegan diets? I dont know....I always fall back on science, scientifically proven requirements, evidenced based outcomes, and quality control (which he also does not factor into his rating system, ie., recalls and past performance). I dont hang my hat on opinions and personal preferences based on nothing but opinion or personal preference....I want undisputed, irrefutable proof, based on fact, that something is "crappy" or "no good" or "ill advised".
