While I think of it, I made one consistent mistake with my dogs. *gulp* yup me. Hindsight is just so great isn't it?
My dogs don't want to laze around on the dock or a porch, or sit under a tree with me in the summertime enjoying the breeze. Why? Quite simple really, when we go outside, we go outside to do! Walk, swim, climb a hill, hike, do obedience training, rally or agility, always a purpose a something to do. I want to do better this spring summer with my crew.
I tell you it is almost painfull when I take all three to the water, I crate rotate for water events, but nobody is happy even on lead when we sit to have our lunch. They are on tenderhooks for Moms to say okay, walk about, or water time etc. I want to teach my dogs to just enjoy the great outdoors with me, not needing to do anything but just relax and laze around a bit.
The closest they have come is the last two summers at our cottage rental, and that was only at night when we were all out on the deck, having had a meal, then a walk, then we came back to sit outside some more. But as soon as I got up all three were up on their feet - looking to me - as if to say okay Moms where to now? Hubby how-ever could get up and walk about in and out, and the dogs stayed down....
