Just for grins and giggles, Dawn dish soap will kill fleas. It could possibly cause dry skin, though. I have also found that Murphy's Oil soap kills fleas and leaves the coat shiney. Rinse very well or they fell a tad sticky when dry. I learned these tricks when I worked at a veterinary clinic. Invaribly, someone would bring in a litter of newborn puppies or kittens after they started dying from flea anemia. These were the only safe ways of removing the fleas. Most fleas soaps are labled as not for use on nursing animals (and quite a few for nothing less than 9-12 weeks of age).
