Healthy Yorkie Puppy Weight Hello everyone!
After losing my adorable 15 year-old Yorkie, Barkley, at Thanksgiving, I have started the adventure over again with an adorable new Yorkie, Chesley Wigglesworth (Miss Wiggles). I got her just before Christmas, and her breeders estimated she'd be 4-4.5 pounds. She's been to the vet for a new puppy check up, has had another round of shots since entering my care, and has another visit scheduled next weeks for a few more shots. She seems fond of her food and eats and drinks normally and has regular bathroom habits. She seems very happy and playful and seems to be normal from what I can tell of my Yorkie experience. There are no indications that she is unhappy or unhealthy.
I weigh her every Friday and consult a weight chart just to see that she's growing properly. A few weeks ago, she started showing on the 3.5-4.0 column of the weight chart. Today, her weight at 18 weeks is still 2.4 pounds, which now suggests she may end up under 3.5 pounds. It doesn't matter to me how big she grows to be; my only concern is that she's healthy. I will of course address her weight with the vet next week, but she seems to be turning out to be EXTRA small. Should I be concerned?
Thanks all! |
