He is my olderst at 4.5 years old and never displayed symptoms that would lead me to think he had liver issues. He has had yearly check-ups and blood tests. Vet told me that he should have a scintigraphy or CT Scan to diagnose the condition properly. They told me that he would need to be anesthecized again (he had surgery a few weeks ago). I was referred by my vet to Animal Surgical & Emergency Hospital (in L.A.) as I need to see a specialist at this point. Which (scintigraphy or CT Scan) is less stressful if at all? Would love to hear advice or your experiences with similar matter.

i'm responding to your post as my 7.5-year-old yorkie just had 2 urate bladder stones removed last month. his liver/bile acid tests were high, so now we are going to do some imaging—ultra sound, etc. did your pup end up having the tests done? and if so, was he diagnosed with liver shunt?
any info would be helpful. thanks!
