I had the same problem with Annie when I first got her. Vet said to pick it up right away. Since I pad trained her, it was easy to watch her and pick it up and trow it in the toilet. She gets a half of a Blue Buffalo mini bone if she poops and doesn't try to eat it! She now knows that the bone is worth it and comes to me and dances so I can go look and give her the bone. Initially I wasn't paying attention one evening and since she couldn't get my attention, she went and and got her poop, brought it to me and dropped it at my feet! Needless to say I always go look if she's doing her little dance in front of me now. The treat bone cured her from trying to eat it.
