I love dog training and Jackson is pretty well trained, but the one thing I always fail at is crate training lol. He was hardly in a crate. I think it lasted a few weeks tops. I got him at 9 weeks old. We graduated to an expen for a short bit, then I ended up just leaving him in my bedroom with a baby gate. By 6 months, he had full reign of the house and was trustworthy. New pup Lola is 4 months or so and she is the same way - just horrible in a crate. Cries/whines/barks, escape artist - climbs out of every pen, chews through mesh ones, etc, in the metal crate she will poop/pee in there. So we've given up already. She's just loose in the back room now where we have tile. While we're not home, the dogs behave together and just sleep, no messes, etc. Come to think of it we never crated any of our dogs growing up or my dads current dogs. I guess we've just been lucky. Most of the dogs I walk/dogsit are crated.
