Hi and Welcome! Unless they are AKC registered there really is no way to tell. The DNA tests are not 100% and I have heard them come back with some crazy breeds a dog was. There are many yorkies here that a pure and bigger then 5 pounds some even up to 20 pounds. The standard says not to exceed 7 pounds but that's for showing and not all dogs are born show dogs. Not sure I would stay with that vet but that's just my opinion. Sure would love to see a picture of him he sounds cute!
