If I were you, I would order a dog car seat. We have taken our dogs with us to the beach a few times. The first time was awful. We had a travel crate, but Barney went ballistic in it. I ended up sitting in the backseat trying to comfort him for the entire 10 hours. The next time we went, we had a car seat and it was much better. He is used to riding in it and he can stand up and look around. Anna is a doll on car rides. She just lays down and enjoys the ride. Barney, though, uggggg.

Last year I took both dogs for a rather lengthy walk right before we left. This got their potty issues out of the way and ensured a nice little nap for the first part of the trip. Have fun on your trip.
