I would say feed him what he likes and does well on. If that is Blue Buffalo, then so be it. There are a lot of complaints about Blue, but a lot of people swear by it and their dogs do very well on it. I don't feed Blue, but 2 of my sons feed Blue Wilderness to their dogs and they really like it.
