my family's yorkie, cricket, about 12 yo, has developed what the vet has described as a crohn's like disease....she presents with bloated belly that increases in girth daily, appears to be painful for her, also gets gasfilled blisters deep under the skin. she is kept on a strict fat free diet, takes azathioprine every other day as prescribed. when the vet has given her a course of prednisone, she urinates everywhere in what appears to huge volumes, she will have a huge blowout of stool and sometimes then she returns to a normal size....vet says he has researched this extensively and there is nothing more that can be done for her.....help? does anyone have advice, recomment a vet maybe in southern colorado, fremont, elpaso or pueblo counties that could help us keep our Cricket to manage flares so she is comfortable and we can share her love longer? She is the most alert and intelligent and almost human in her non verbal communication.
