Default Growling

I was just wondering if anyone else had a problem with their yorkie growling, quite a bit.

I have a pekepoo, Chewie, as well, who is almost 8 years old and I've had him 7.5 years. I got my yorkie, Griffy, in May and he just turned 3 in November.

As soon as I brought Griffy home, he immediately became the alpha. That was alright, because Chewie is so laid back he seems to really not care.

Griffy will growl incessantly at him at times though. It's typically when Griffy has settled in and wants to sleep. Chewie will leave him alone, have no contact with him. Every once in a while though, Chewie will just walk past him, no contact made, and Griffy will freak and suddenly jumps from his curled up state to snapping at Chewie and does this constant growl that I have no idea how to correct.

I will try to correct the behavior by removing Griffy from the place that he seems to be having some protectiveness over, while also not allowing Chewie to enter that space either.

If it seems they are fighting over me, rather than a space, then I remove myself.

It doesn't seem to work. Griffy just keeps growing until Chewie just gives up and lays down, then Griffy starts licking him. Cleaning his eyes. Like nothing ever happened.

I hope that all of this makes sense. I'm at a loss on how to fix it...
