Having owned a Yorkie for 11 years and my first, I received some good advice from a friend who owned Yorkies. First, they are indoor dogs and get cold easily. My dog always wore coats in the winter and likes soft, fleece blankets all year to stay warm inside. Second, they are prone to tartar buildup and I recommend brushing teeth or using the anti-tartar gel at least twice a week. Third, they are prone to stomach and kidney problems. I had always fed my dog Royal Canin as was recommended by her breeder. My new vet recommends the frozen diets like Primal or Stella & Chewys. Yorkies have a tendancy to get matter buildup in their tear ducts. I use moisture only drops about once a week.
