Any nicks, cuts, too close of a clip, I would expect to be advised of. But nails can get clipped too short, even I have done it once or twice.
Because of your good experience with the previous groomer, I would call the salon and ask to speak with the manager. I would lay out my expectations and my desire to have only this groomer - groom my dog.
